Terms of service
These terms are between Andrzej Werner ("we", "us"), who runs AutoShop, and the business that signs up ("you", "the garage"). AutoShop is a business-to-business service for the motor trade.
1. The service
AutoShop is an online workshop tool. It gives you vehicle lookups, technical data, fault codes, documents, a customer and vehicle register, and an assistant. We may add, change or remove features. We'll tell you before removing anything you rely on.
2. Accounts
Each person at your garage gets their own login. Keep passwords private and turn on two-factor authentication when asked. You're responsible for what happens under your garage's logins, and you must tell us straight away if you think a login has been misused.
3. Price and payment
The first month is a trial at £19. After that, AutoShop costs £60 a month for the garage, paid in advance. We'll give at least 30 days' notice of any price change. Pay through the payment link we send or the one under Billing. If a payment is more than 7 days late, we may pause your access until it arrives. Your data is kept while access is paused.
4. Cancelling
There's no minimum term. To cancel, don't renew, or email us. You keep access until the end of the month you've paid for. Payments for months already started are not refunded, except where the law requires it.
5. Technical data: check before you rely on it
Technical figures (capacities, torque settings, intervals and specifications) come from public sources, manufacturers' published information and our own research. They are given to help qualified technicians. Some figures are marked as not yet checked against the manufacturer's handbook. Always confirm safety-critical figures (brakes, steering, suspension, airbags, high-voltage systems, engine internals) against the manufacturer's information before you rely on them. The assistant's answers are guidance only.
6. Your data
Your garage owns the data it puts into AutoShop: customers, vehicles, notes and uploads. We process customer personal data only on your instructions, as your processor. The data-processing terms in section 10 apply. Other garages can't see your data.
7. Fair use
Don't resell or share AutoShop access outside your garage. Don't copy the data in bulk, scrape it, try to break in, or upload anything you don't have the right to share. Lookups that come from government services follow those services' rules and limits.
8. Availability
We aim to keep AutoShop running all the time, but it may be unavailable for maintenance, or when a third-party service it depends on (DVSA, DVLA, hosting) fails. We back up the database every night.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Otherwise, we're not liable for loss of profit, business or data, or for indirect loss. Our total liability in any 12 months is limited to what you paid us in those 12 months.
10. Data processing (UK GDPR, Article 28)
When we process personal data for you (your customers' names, contact details and vehicles), we:
- process it only to provide AutoShop and on your documented instructions
- make sure anyone who handles it is bound by confidentiality
- keep it secure: encrypted connections, hashed passwords, two-factor sign-in, per-garage separation, nightly backups
- use sub-processors only as listed in the privacy notice, and tell you before adding new ones
- help you answer requests from your customers to see, correct or delete their data
- tell you without undue delay if we become aware of a breach affecting your data
- delete or return your data within 30 days after you leave, unless the law requires us to keep it
- give you the information you need to show these terms are met
11. Changes and law
We may update these terms. We'll email you about material changes at least 30 days before they apply. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
